Gilda’s Club New York City’s 15th Annual Benefit Gala Celebrating Our Family – Our Commitment to Community held on November 19th at the Pierre Hotel was a huge success and raised 11% more this year to help keep our program free for members.
We welcomed many new family members, especially our honorees, Richard T. Clark, Chairman, President and CEO, Merck & Co., Inc. and Dr. David A. Scheinberg, Chairman, Molecular Pharmacology and Chemistry Program, Sloan-Kettering Institute. A special presentation of “The Bill Modell Heart of Gold Award” was made to the Concerned Women of the Grove for their ongoing support over the last decade.
Our heartfelt thanks to Diana Williams for hosting, Mary Jo Otsea of Sotheby’s who conducted a lively auction and to GCNYC member Victoria Castellano for sharing her story with us.
Special thanks to our gala and dinner chairs, Dr. Sol J. Barer, Robert J. Easton and Ann Russo.
Thank you to our board, dinner committee, volunteers, staff and all our sponsors for helping to make this benefit successful – we couldn’t have done it without you. Welcome to the family – click here for a full list of our sponsors & donors.

NoogieFest 2009
Our annual children’s community Halloween party was held in ghoulishly glorious fashion
on Friday, October 30th. Nearly 150 members, staff, and volunteers came dressed
in their most inventive
costumes. The crowd was treated to a wonderful performance
by The Big Apple Circus,
and artists from The Ink Well Foundation drew caricatures for the children
and performed face painting. There were
goodies, games, and prizes for everyone in attendance!
refreshments were generously donated by FreshDirect,
McDonald’s, and
Great
Performances.
