Gilda's Club New York City is thrilled to have Diana Williams, WABC-TV news anchor, join us as host for this year’s gala. Diana has been involved with Gilda's Club NYC for many years and we are truly grateful for her support.

An award winning reporter and anchor for Eyewitness News at 5:00pm, Diana joined Channel 7 in 1991 as a general assignment reporter. Diana has covered stories ranging from the troubles in Ireland to President Bush during the Gulf War and the congressional reaction to U.S. military moves. Diana attended President Clinton's inauguration in 1993, and covered the New York City Democratic National Convention in 1992. She has also covered the Republican National Conventions in San Diego, California in 1996 and in Philadelphia in 2000.

 

An experienced journalist, Diana has reported extensively on Pope John Paul II, first in New York City, then in Baltimore, Maryland in 1995. She has followed the Pontiff on his pilgrimage to Israel in 2000 and the Pope's trips to Mexico City and

St. Louis in 1999.

 

In addition to anchoring Eyewitness News, Diana hosts a weekly show called "Eyewitness News Up Close" the political talk show focusing on issues and information important to residents in the tri-state area. Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Senator Hillary Clinton, have been guests on the show.

 

Diana is the recipient of numerous awards including the Headliner Award and the New York Associated Press first place award for her story, "Shelters of Shame". Diana holds a BA in economics from Duke University, where she now serves as a member of The Duke Library Advisory Board. In addition, she is a trustee for the National Academy for Television Arts and Sciences and its New York chapter.

 

Diana resides in Westchester County with her husband and three children.
