The Bill Modell Heart of Gold Award

We are pleased to announce that the Concerned Women of the Grove (CWOG) will be the recipient of The Bill Modell Heart of Gold Award. This award is presented annually to honor special individuals who follow in Bill's footsteps by giving of themselves to help New Yorkers who are touched cancer. CWOG has been supporting GCNYC for over a decade.

In 1995 two friends were having a conversation about the alarming epidemic of breast cancer, and wondering what they could do about it. The Concerned Women of the Grove was formed as a result of that conversation.

This small group of friends organized the first fund-raiser at the home of one of its members. And what a success it was! Through word-of mouth, a few flyers, and the unbelievable support of the Cherry Grove Community, the first breast cancer benefit raised over $10,000.

Our “house party” has become a greatly anticipated community event as well as a growing yearly fund-raiser. The Benefit holds a fabulous Silent Auction which produces most of the funds that are raised. Donations from celebrities, corporations, artists & local establishments send guests into a bidding war for a great cause.

CWOG has raised over $600,000 over the past thirteen years in the fight against breast cancer. We continue to support Stony Brook Foundation for Breast Cancer Research and Gilda’s Club NYC, which receives 100% of all funds raised.
