a cooking workshop
Support Groups allow people affected by cancer to come together and explore the social and emotional issues they are facing. Group members help each other learn to live more fully by sharing their wisdom and their own firsthand experiences with cancer.
Networking Groups and Lectures help our members access valuable information about medical, legal, financial and other specific aspects of the cancer experience.
Workshops, including art, cooking, journal writing, yoga, chi-gong and gentle aerobics, enhance our members' well being and promote self-discovery.
Social Events, like our Holiday Party, potluck suppers and our Brooklyn Picnic, bring members and staff together and help further their sense of community.
1-to-1 Connect allows you to connect on the phone with a peer;
Noogieland is a special place where children who have been affected by cancer – whether through their own diagnosis or that of a loved one – can find support in a fun, facilitated play environment.
Camp Sparkle provides week-long sessions of fun themes, specialized workshops, field trips and lots of laughter during periods when school is not in session (mid-winter recess, Spring break, and summer vacation). There is no fee for camp, which includes all activities, lunch and snacks for all campers.
Teen Program, provides ongoing support for teens that have been touched by cancer
in ANY way. Teens Connect, the Junior Associate Board, and the Annual It's Always
Something Teen Essay Contest provide various opportunities for teens throughout
Team Convene is a special, facilitated meeting where a member can reach out to their family, friends, colleagues and spiritual advisors to discuss a diagnosis or an upcoming treatment or surgery, and together create a plan to assist with the practical demands of living with cancer.
A Family Focus assembles the entire family of someone living with cancer for a discussion facilitated by a GCNYC social worker. Everyone can discuss their concerns and fears, and plan for the shifts which may be necessary when living with a cancer diagnosis.
All of our programs are offered to members absolutely free of charge!
