2008 GCNYC Gala a success!
Gilda's Club New York City held its 14th Annual Benefit Gala Celebrating Our Family, on Thursday, November 20, 2008. The very special evening commemorated “Our Family” in recognition of all the individuals, corporations, and foundations that have supported us over the years and helped us to grow our program throughout New York City.
In NYC, approximately 34,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year. GCNYC has served over 5,000 members but there still remains a large group of individuals who would benefit from our services. Our mission is to provide meeting places where men, women and children living with cancer - and their family and friends - can join with others to build social and emotional support as a supplement to medical care. Throughout our thirteen years we have accomplished what few other non-profits have - we have created a family and a home for our members, one where they share their hopes and fears, their sadness and joy, free of charge.
This year’s gala was held at The Pierre Hotel in New York City. Thank you to all of our supporters!
