Benjamin Doller, who joined the firm in 1979, is a Senior Expert in 19th century European and British art. Prior to being promoted to the position of Vice Chairman in 2006, he was the Head of North American Specialists and Worldwide Head of 19th Century European Paintings, based in New York. During his tenure at Sotheby's, Mr. Doller has been involved in many of the most notable sales at Sotheby's and has sold close to $1 billion of 19th Century European art over the last 29 years. He also has been involved in securing major sales on Impressionist and Modern paintings as well as American, Latin American and Old Master pictures. Recently Mr. Doller was involved in the record breaking sale of Important Photographs from The Metropolitan Museum of Art. He was also instrumental in the sale of paintings from the Estates of Walter P. Chrysler, Jr., Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Bill Blass and Katherine Hepburn.  In addition to serving as a Senior Auctioneer for Sotheby's, Mr. Doller is also very involved in charity auctions, and has regularly served as auctioneer for benefits throughout the United States.
