New York City, NY — (November 18, 2011) — This year, Gilda's Club NYC was selected as the beneficiary of monies raised during the Pink Ribbon Bagel campaign run by Panera Bread bakery-cafes in Staten Island and Queens throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Panera Bread bakers hand twisted nearly 6,000 sweet cherry vanilla bagels and baked them into the iconic "pink ribbon" shape to symbolize hope for prevention and cure. Proceeds from the sale of these Pink Ribbon bagels went directly to benefit the vital support services of Gilda's Club New York City.

"This is the first year that Panera Bread bakery-cafes in Staten Island and Queens have teamed up with Gilda's Club New York City and we're delighted to help advance the good work they do in support of the social and emotional needs of individuals impacted by cancer," says Greg George, Vice President of Operations for Panera.

Gilda's Club NYC creates welcoming communities of free support for everyone living with cancer along with their families and friends. GCNYC offers a crucial complement to medical care by providing networking and support groups, workshops, lectures and social activities, all offered without charge to those it serves.
